So we all know that a blue Harlequin is not a acceptable show color here in the US. I found a blue Harlequin named Bono being shown in Australia. I find this to be very exciting! I would love to see all the colors accepted for showing. I feel like we should be looking more at conformation, temperament and health than at color. I understand that breeding certain colors together can result in puppies with health problems (harlequin X harlequin or merle X merle or merle X harlequin or fawnequin or blue harl) So we don't need to breed those colors together to still get all the gorgeous colors in our puppies. I would love to see them all accepted. The focus of breeding so often gets to be just on color and color pure lines that a lot of these dogs lose out on conformation and temperament as well as health. Anyways I thought it was pretty cool to see Bono's info.

March has been a absolutely insane month. My brother in law passed away in a car accident on March 9th and it has all been a blur since that day. On March 20th I turned 26 but didn't really feel like celebrating, I spent the day at home with my kids, dogs and my horses. We also got Lucy in March. She is a fawnequin great dane out of the same litter as Hector. Her new owner was having problems potty training her and had put her up for sale with out talking to her breeder first. Thankfully I had everyone (people who know me and people who don't) contacting me about her. I was able to buy Lucy the next day. After she was safely in my car her previous owner informed me that they were going to "take her out back and shoot her" the next day..... because she wasn't potty trained! This drives me nuts, I didn't say anything to her. (I wanted to but didn't think I should in front of my kids or hers) Lucy was severely underweight when I got her and after ruling out any medical reasons came to realize she just needed food. I am so very happy I was able to get Lucy. She is very loving and playful and yes, not potty trained at 7 months old, but she is quickly catching on. She plays well with the other dogs and my kids. I will keep her after much consideration, she will have a permanent home here with me and I will add her to my breeding program. This was not my plan when I first got her. I was going to potty train her get her weight back up and rehome her but we have all fallen In love :)
On March 26th we had a beautiful colt born in the early hours of the morning. He is strong and very outgoing. I will be training him and when he is old enough I will be putting him up for sale. He will be a very tall horse as his dad is around 16 hands. I will attach a photo of both Lucy and our new colt, we have not come up with a name for him yet.
I am considering breeding Lily to Hector this time next year and Lucy to Waylon around the same time. These breedings will produce lots of color and awesome pups. I have not decided yet for sure if I will do this but I am leaning towards it.
If anyone has any questions feel free to email me and like our page on Facebook, Ems Dane Haven.
Happy Easter Everyone!!!
Hector, fawn male, is Ozzys son. He will be staying with us. Hector is a big boy, weighing in at 50lbs at 13 weeks old.
Harlequin girl, named Freja (pronounced Freya) is a unrelated girl we have brought in. we are very excited to watch these two pups grow. Freja at 10 weeks was 20 lbs.
We have a litter out of Isis x Waylon due Dec 24th. We are expecting lots of blues puppies out of them.
We also have a litter due Jan 10th out of Lily and Waylon.
Our waiting lists are started but there are still a few open spots.

The puppies turned 5 weeks old yesterday. They are using the doggy door and eating solid foods now. They are all very friendly and love playing outside. The weather has not been the best though so not much outside time. They had there dew claws removed at 3 days old and will have first set of vaccinations. 8 puppies still available.
So I have not had internet so have not been able to update much. Waylon is doing good and getting big! Isis has begun lactating today and was digging under our bush so I'm thinking puppies will be coming in the next couple of days. She is getting big. She has not been eating well the last couple of days so I am supplementing her food with puppy formula. She loves the taste of it! She has gotten a little thin since she stopped eating so I am watching her closely and feeding her extra meals. She will not be having puppies for another year and a half after this litter. Ozzy will be 2 in Nov. already. Time has gone by so fast. The puppies from our last litter are getting so big!! People have been sending me updated pics and I LOVE them! It is so fun to see how big they are and hear about how well behaved they are. Most of the puppies I am certain will be bigger than both mom and dad. I will be posting pics of the puppies and emailing my waiting list as soon as I have time after they are born.
I have not had internet so it has been difficult updating my site. We now have Waylon, a 8 month old blue male, his pedigree is color pure. We are very excited about this boy. I was looking for a male for Lily when Waylon was shown to me. I am now planning on keeping a Black female out of my next litter for Waylon and a Harlequin male for Lily. I will continue to post updates as often as I can. Because I am planning on keeping two puppies from this litter if you are interested in a puppy please let me know right away so I can place you on the waiting list. Here is a pic of Waylon. I don't have many yet.
I have started searching for a mate for Lily. I have contacted several wonderful breeders in Germany and I really like a couple of them, but, as with any breeder, they do not have any puppies right now. I will be watching the breeders sites and will be in contact with them. It is exciting and frustrating all at the same time. I am sure many people feel the same about having to wait for a litter to be born. This is a good thing though, it would not be healthy for the dogs to be bred every heat cycle. Speaking of heat cycles, I will start watching Isis closely in the next month for sign of heat. She will be on a leash attached to me with Ozzy maybe going to visit my sister. It is much easier on all the dogs to not be around the opposite sex during the heat cycles. I will be skipping this heat cycle and if all the dogs are still in good health will be breeding them again for a litter in the spring of 2014. I am hoping to get a female out of this litter to keep and add to my breeding program. The last litter was amazing but I am hoping for a female Harlequin in the next litter for myself.
I have received some photos and updates on the puppies from the last litter. They are all doing so well and I LOVE getting the pics. I put so much time and energy into the whole litter that it is extremely rewarding to see them with all the new families.
So all the puppies are gone now except Macy, the little black girl. She still hasn't found her perfect home and so we named her. She has been so much fun to play with. We have a rope toy with tennis balls on it and she loves it. She will chase it, throw it in the air, and play tug o war with it. We have started housebreaking her and she is doing great. I am hoping she will find a home but if not I have no problem with keeping this cute little girl.
5 of the puppies have gone on to new homes already. It is a bittersweet weekend for me. I am happy to see the smiles on the new families faces but sad to see the little faces go one by one. I will miss them all. I am also happy that I will not be so busy now and can once again can find time in my schedule to ride my horse and just relax. Spring is upon us and so now I will be doing my spring cleaning and will soon be cleaning up the yard after the snow melts. I look forward to seeing updates on the puppies and hopefully some pics of them as they grow. 2 of the puppies have gone to homes in my area and I am excited to watch them grow. They have both gone to a couple friends of mine and so I will get to visit them and I am very happy about this. The kids are not very happy to see the puppies go and keep asking me where their favorite puppy has gone. Only 2 left for pick up now and one left to find a home for. Admiral is still with us and he is still such a sweet boy. We have discovered he does not like cats and so we will be looking for a home with no cats for him. I am hoping to get him neutered soon so his new family, when we find them, will not have to worry about it. If anyone is looking for a loving dog that is already house broke and has good manners already he will be the perfect fit. He enjoys it outside so his new family could have an outside dog if they chose. He will come inside but will ask to go out very soon after he comes in and would rather just stay out. He is about 80 lbs or so and will be getting a lot bigger. He has a very big bark and is a great watch dog letting us know when anything is not as it should be. He will bark when someone comes up the driveway but will great them with a happy tail and a smile. If anyone is interested in this sweet boy please let me know. I am asking a small amount of money now for him but after he is neutered his price will go up.
Tomorrow I will be taking the fawn and the black puppies to the vet for a check up and first set of shots. The next day the harlequins and the merle will be going in. They are currently only on solid foods and are doing great. I have extended the pen they stay in so it is 3 times bigger and they are having a little trouble staying on the puppy pads with potty time. I think it will get better as they get used to the bigger area. Before I changed it they were all using the puppy pads very well. They turned 6 weeks old today. Hard to believe they will be going to new homes in a couple weeks. It will be boring around here without the little trouble makers lol. They are always escaping the pen if I am not around to play with them and they will start looking for me and making messes on the way. Only the black female is still available. She is shy with new people but once she gets to know you she wants to cuddle and play. She is so sweet :) She is also one of the biggest in the litter. I am going to try and get pics up today of the puppies.
